I've decided to look at two formats for the mart. I would love to print a overside newspaper style publication but it's just not appropriate for this brief.
Something that good value for money (cheap) and something that can be produced in small print runs for a good price.
So ive decided to go for ;
Pages -210 x 210 mm 8 pages 100GSM uncoated
Cover -210 x 210 mm 170 GSM uncoated.
Full CMYK to keep costs down and either digital or litho.
£328 for inner
£244 for cover
Total £ 572 for 500 units.
Quarterly edition
£2,288 for a full year.
Or
Pages -210 x 148 mm 8 pages 100GSM uncoated
Cover -210 x 148 mm 170 GSM uncoated.
Again Full CMYK
£269 for inner
£161 for cover.
Total £430 for 500 units
£1,720 for a full year.
It would seem that yes non A formats are a tad more interesting but a lot more expensive. It may stand out more against other a5 booklets but would that many people notice?
I personally think unless you are dealing with clients with a large budget or who are creative/design savvy the cheaper option will always be chosen.
